The fine print
Terms
This page sets out two things: the conditions for using this website and its free tools, and the basic terms for website work we carry out. A written quote for a job sets out the specific scope and price and forms part of the agreement for that job.

Using this website
The guides, tools and pages on contractovix.site are provided for general information. They explain what official sources say and suggest practical steps, but they are not legal, building or tax advice. Check anything specific to your business with the relevant professional or regulator.
We take care to keep the content accurate and dated, but rules and documentation change. If you rely on a guide for a decision, check the linked source first.
The free tools
The planning tools run in your browser. Their results are suggestions based on the reasoning explained in the guides. You decide what to do with them. Because nothing is sent to us, we cannot recover anything you did not download.
Copying content
Short extracts are fine if you link to the page they came from. Copying whole guides, or passing them off as your own work, is not.
Website work: quotes
Every job starts with a written quote listing the pages, features and checks included, what we need from you, what is not included and the price. The quote is an offer to do that work for that price.
Deposit and payment
A deposit of 30% of the quoted price is paid after you accept the quote and before work starts. The balance is due at handover. Invoices are due 14 days from the invoice date. For quotes above NZD 10,000, the quote may set a middle payment at an agreed stage. GST is shown on each quote where it applies.
Changes to scope
The price changes only if the scope changes. If you want work the quote does not cover, or missing material from you forces the work to change, we set out the change and its cost in writing and go ahead only once you agree in writing. Extra work is charged at the hourly rate on the pricing page unless the change is quoted separately.
What you provide
You confirm that you have the right to give us the photos, text, logos and other material you send, including the owners' agreement for photos of their homes, and that the facts you ask us to publish about your business, such as licences or memberships, are accurate.
We may decline to publish claims we think could mislead, and will explain why.
Ownership
Once the work is paid for, you own the site's content and design as delivered, and you hold the domain and hosting accounts in your own name. Third-party components such as fonts, libraries and plugins stay under their own licences, which we list at handover.
We may describe the work in general terms, but we will not publish your project or name as an example without your written agreement.
Cancellation
You can cancel at any time by telling us in writing. You pay for work done up to that point, and the deposit counts toward it. If the work done is worth less than the deposit, we refund the difference. Anything finished is handed over.
We can end the agreement if payment is overdue by more than 30 days or if we cannot continue for reasons outside our control, in which case the same rules apply.
Responsibility
We will carry out the work with reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for the performance of your hosting provider, changes made to the site by others after handover, or search rankings, enquiries or sales, which depend on many things outside the work.
Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under New Zealand law that cannot be excluded.
Governing law
New Zealand law applies to this page and to any agreement for website work, and New Zealand courts decide any dispute.
