Privacy notice

This notice explains what personal information the site collects, why, how long it is kept and how you can see, correct or delete it. It is written to meet the information privacy principles in New Zealand's Privacy Act 2020.

Who runs this site

This site is run under the name Contractovix. You can contact us about privacy at hello@contractovix.site.

What we collect

From the contact form or an email to us: the name and email address you give, a phone number if you add one, and the text of your message. If you send us a plan made with one of our tools, that too.

When you visit any page: the web server records standard technical details, such as the address of the page requested, the time, your browser type and your IP address, in server logs kept by the hosting provider.

When you use the tools: nothing. The tools run in your browser and do not send what you type to us.

On the contact page: one short-lived cookie that protects the form from misuse. The cookies page explains it.

Why we collect it

  • to answer your enquiry and, should you decide to proceed, to quote for and carry out the work
  • to keep the contact form working and free of abuse, using a record of recent sends linked to a scrambled form of your IP address
  • to keep the site secure, using server logs

If your enquiry asks about having a website built, our reply may describe our services, in line with the commercial interest noted at the foot of every page. We do not add you to a mailing list and do not sell or rent your details.

Information about other people

Should your message include details about another person, such as a client or a property owner, the Privacy Act's IPP3A, in force from 1 May 2026, may require steps to make that person aware. Please only send what we need, and tell us if the other person has not been told.

Who sees it

Messages are read by the person running Contractovix. They pass through the site's hosting and email providers, who store them on our behalf. We do not share them with anyone else unless the law requires it.

Retention periods

  • Enquiries that do not go ahead: deleted within 24 months of the last message.
  • Enquiries that lead to work: kept for as long as needed for the work and for our tax records.
  • Form protection records: a scrambled IP record is kept for about 24 hours and removed the next time the form is used after that.
  • Server logs: kept for the period set by the hosting provider, then deleted.

Keeping it safe

The site uses HTTPS. Form settings and records are stored outside the public web folder. Access to email is limited to the person who replies to enquiries. If a privacy breach is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify the Privacy Commissioner and the people affected; the Commissioner has said it expects notification within 72 hours of becoming aware that a breach is notifiable.

Your rights

Under the Privacy Act you may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and ask for it to be corrected. We will also delete it on request, apart from anything the law requires us to keep. Write to hello@contractovix.site; where the law prevents us from doing what you ask, our answer says why.

Unhappy with how we handled a request? The Office of the Privacy Commissioner, at privacy.org.nz, takes complaints.

Information sent overseas

Our hosting or email providers may store information on servers outside New Zealand. Where that happens, we choose providers that protect information in ways comparable to the Privacy Act.
