Behind the site
About Contractovix
Contractovix designs and builds websites for builders, renovators and trade businesses in Aotearoa New Zealand, and publishes free guides and planning tools on the same subject. We do not do building work. This page explains who is behind the site and how it works.

What the site is for
A building or trade website should make two things easy: seeing what the business has built, and asking it to price the next job. Contractovix exists to help with that in two ways: free guides and tools that any business can use on its own, and paid website work for those who would rather hand it over.
The guides cover project pages, photos, quote forms, area pages, local search, claims, redesigns and costs. The tools turn that advice into plans and checklists. The services are listed with their scope and starting prices.
Who writes it
The guides, tools and service pages are written and maintained by Christopher Lee, the name used by the writer and editor of this site. Every guide cites its sources, and the editorial policy explains how they are chosen, graded and corrected.
The trades we build for
We work with businesses that build, renovate or repair, mainly in residential work: builders, renovation companies, roofers, electricians, plumbers, drainlayers, painters, landscapers and similar trades. Commercial contractors are welcome where their website works the same way, by showing projects and taking enquiries.
We write in New Zealand English, price in New Zealand dollars and refer to New Zealand rules: the Privacy Act, the Fair Trading Act and the official building guidance on building.govt.nz.
Lines we do not cross
Some things are off the table on any client site:
- Invented reviews or testimonials. Only real words from real clients who agreed to publication.
- Figures we cannot check. No made-up numbers of homes built, years of experience or enquiries won.
- Licences or memberships the business does not hold. Stated exactly, with a link to the register or the issuing body.
- Copied town pages. Area pages only where there is real local detail.
- Promises of rankings. Nobody can honestly promise a position in search results.
These are practical as well as principled. Under the Fair Trading Act, claims about a business must not mislead and must have reasonable grounds when they are made.
How we work
Every job starts with a written quote that fixes the price before a deposit. The process page explains the four stages from brief to handover. Clients own their domain, hosting and site files, and get written notes on updating the site themselves.
The site's commercial interest
The site has a commercial interest in website work, described once in the disclosure at the foot of every page. Free guides and tools are written to be useful whether or not anyone becomes a client.
