What it costs

Pricing

Every job gets a written quote that fixes the price before you pay a deposit. The figures below are starting points for each service, so you can see roughly where your job might sit before you get in touch.

A starting point is the lowest price at which we would take on that work with the coverage shown. Larger scopes cost more, and the quote explains why.

From enquiry to written quote

After your first message, we may ask a few questions. If we go ahead, the written quote lists every page and feature in the job, what we need from you, what is not included and the price.

The Commerce Commission separates a quote, which commits the business to a price for the job, from an estimate, which is a best guess. Our quotes are quotes: the price is fixed for the scope written in them.

When the price can change

Only if the scope changes, and only in writing. If you ask for something that is not in the quote, or something we need from you does not arrive and the work has to change as a result, we write down the change and its cost and wait for your agreement before doing it. Extra work agreed this way is charged at NZD 160 an hour, plus GST where applicable.

Deposit and payment

  • Deposit. 30% of the quoted price, paid after you accept the quote and before work starts.
  • Balance. Paid at handover, when the site is live or the work is delivered.
  • Payment terms. Invoices are due 14 days from the invoice date.
  • Larger jobs. For quotes above NZD 10,000 we may suggest a middle payment at an agreed stage, written into the quote.

GST

GST is 15% (Inland Revenue). Each quote states whether GST is added and how much, so you can compare it fairly with others. The Commerce Commission's guidance is that quotes and estimates should include GST, which our quotes do where it applies.

What costs extra or is paid elsewhere

  • Domain name and hosting. Paid by you directly to the provider, in your own name.
  • Photography. Not included.
  • Paid fonts, images or plugins. Only if you ask for something that needs a licence; listed in the quote.
  • Changes after handover. Quoted separately, or charged at NZD 160 an hour plus GST where applicable.

What is free

Our first reply to an enquiry is free and carries no obligation. It says whether we think we can help. The four planning tools and the guides are free to use whether or not you ever contact us.

Why are there no package prices?

Contractor sites differ too much. A builder with twenty projects and a sole trader with three services need different amounts of work. Starting points and a fixed written quote are fairer than a package that does not fit.

Do you offer payment plans?

Beyond the deposit and balance, and a middle payment for larger jobs, no. If that does not suit, tell us and we can discuss a smaller first stage.

What happens if I cancel partway?

The terms explain it: you pay for work done to that point, and the deposit counts toward it. Anything we have finished is handed over.
